SUMMARY:Phoenicia Playhouse Presents - Always... Patsy Cline
DESCRIPTION:PHOENICIA PLAYHOUSE PRESENTS production of \nAlways…Patsy Cline \n“Created and originally Directed by Ted Swindley – based on a true story“ \nBased on the true story of a pen-pal friendship set to the soundtrack of country’s most vibrant voice \nAlways…Patsy Cline is a true story about Cline’s friendship with a fan from Houston named Louise Seger\, who befriended the star in a Texas honky-tonk\, and continued a correspondence with Cline until her untimely death in a plane crash. The show’s title was inspired by Cline’s letters to Seger\, which were consistently signed “Love ALWAYS… Patsy Cline.” Tales of Patsy’s life on the road are told with down-home country humor and brought to vibrant life through her music. Seger supplies a narrative while Cline floats in and out of the set singing tunes that made her famous— “Anytime”\, “Walkin’ After Midnight”\, “She’s Got You”\, “Sweet Dreams”\, and “Crazy” — to name a few. \nDirected By Ovi Vargas \nStarring \nErin Hebert as Patsy Cline \nRebecca Brown Adelman as Louise Seger \nand a LIVE HONKY TONK BAND! \nRoman Pietrs – Rhythm Guitar \nAllen Vella – Bass \nDave “Ace” Case – Lead Guitar \nStephen Olenski – Drums \nCarrie Bradley – Violin \nJenni Cawein – Piano \nErin is an actress\, singer\, voice actress\, and fight choreographer based in Poughkeepsie. Her most prominent voice acting role featured her as FBI agent Alexandria Thoman in the New York Times podcast “The Daily”\, acting alongside Broadway alum Stephen Pasquale. SUMMARY:Twelfth Night
DESCRIPTION:Catskill Mountain Shakespeare Company Presents \nTWELFTH NIGHT – Or What You Will\n\nAugust 19-29 at The Emerson Resort & Spa \nWhen Viola finds herself shipwrecked and separated from her twin brother Sebastian in the unfamiliar country of Illyria\, she dresses in his clothes and calls herself Cesario in order to serve the Count Orsino. Tasked with wooing Lady Olivia on Orsino’s behalf\, Viola/Cesario plunges into the social\, political\, and romantic intrigues of Illyria’s hoi polloi. By turns hilarious and heartrending\, Twelfth Night takes us on an adventure from the depths of grief to the heights of joy\, and along the way explores the fluidity of love\, gender\, identity\, and time. Embracing the Elizabethan spirit of audience interaction\, physical comedy\, and live music\, this production will be a theatrical party that feels contemporary\, fervent\, and fun.

Sundays at 2pm.\nTickets are $20\, Seniors & Students $18. \nDirected by Victoria McCarthy \nTHE SEXY TONY AWARD-WINNING MUSICAL \nOne man\, many women. It’s perhaps the ultimate fantasy of many\, to be lavished with affection and sex by several women\, and it is also the lifestyle held by Guido\, the main character of Nine\, the 4-Tony winning musical (including Best Musical\, Best Direction of a Musical\, and Best Original Score). The sexy and thought provoking show is based on 8 1/2\, Federico Fellini’s semi-autobiographical masterwork about a charismatic\, yet needy film-maker in mid-life crisis\, surrounded by the many women in his life: his wife\, his mistress\, his muse\, his mother\, plus many more. As the sexy Guido juggles his love life and examines his life\, we learn more about him\, and maybe a little bit about ourselves. Imaginative staging and choreography and a beautiful score will help tell his story\, and provide an exciting evening of theater. \n“Nine” is presented by special arrangement with SAMUEL FRENCH\, INC. \nBook by Arthur Kopit\nMusic and Lyrics by Maury Yeston\nAdapted from the Italian by Mario Fratti\nBased on Fellini’s 8 1/2\nDirected by Victoria McCarthy\nOctober 13\, 14\, 15\, 20\, 21\, 22\, 27\, 28 & 29\nFridays and Saturdays at 8pm. SUMMARY:AND - by Aynsley Vandenbroucke
DESCRIPTION:Aynsley Vandenbroucke\nAnd \nSaturday\, July 22 8:00 pm / Sunday\, July 23 3:00 pm / Tickets $20 \n“Aynsley Vandenbroucke has been exploring the relation of literary formalism to the human body in a way few writers\, if any\, are doing.” —Hyperallergic \nIn And\, Aynsley Vandenbroucke uses experimental literary devices to create a series of live\, three-dimensional essays. She plays with lines between fact and fiction\, narrative and abstraction\, legibility and complexity. She works with—and against—the role of formal structures in writing\, moving\, and making a life. \nSome words that tussle for prominence in the piece are: art\, life\, teaching\, body\, marriage\, knowing\, divorce\, friendship\, contradiction\, form\, home\, house\, community\, uncertainty\, gentleness\, question\, power\, sex\, dance. \nCalled “gifted” by the New Yorker and “an elegant sensitive thinker” by the New York Times\, Aynsley Vandenbroucke has been making performance in NYC since 2000. She co-founded Mount Tremper Arts and served as co-curator there until 2014. Vandenbroucke teaches at Princeton University and is obsessed with the relationships between reading\, writing\, learning to live\, and making dance. \nPurchase tickets online here\, or call 845-688-9893.

SUMMARY:Maps for a War Tourist by Sister Sylvester
DESCRIPTION:Maps for a War Tourist by Sister Sylvester\nA Watershed Lab project in partnership with Dixon Place \nSaturday\, May 13\, 2017 / 8:00 pm / Tickets $15 / Preview \nThis investigative performance follows Ayşe Deniz Karacagil\, a young Turkish woman arrested during the Gezi protests of 2013 and sentenced to a maximum of 98 years in prison for wearing a red scarf. Karacagil subsequently escaped across the Turkish border to join the Kurdish resistance movement. Maps for a War Tourist layers original research to question the nature of truth and the allure of the real\, while tracing connections between recent events in Turkey and the U.S.\, between non-violent protest and armed revolution\, and between a revolutionary and those bearing witness to her story. \nThe rising cross-cultural theater company Sister Sylvester using documentary techniques in parallel with fiction to explore relationships of power. \nFor tickets and info: http://mounttremperarts.org/ \nMount Tremper Arts\n647 South Plank Rd\, Mt Tremper NY 12457\n845-688-9893

SUMMARY:THIS by Adrienne Truscott
DESCRIPTION:THIS by Adrienne Truscott\nDirected by Ellie Heyman \nA Watershed Lab project in partnership with New York Live Arts \nSaturday\, March 25 8:00pm / Tickets $15 \nTHIS is a solo performance which may not always be a solo. \nTHIS is a small or large or medium act of artistic survivalism and an ever-evolving work that writes\, in real time\, the libretto of the performance the artist is attempting to do which changes with each performance to reflect the new context brought by the performance at hand. \nAfter taking on rape culture in her controversial\, award-winning stand-up performance Asking for It\, Adrienne Truscott comes to Mount Tremper Arts to wrestle with questions that have formed the undercurrent of her performance work forever. In a new solo\, she asks what it is we are all doing in this place\, at this moment in time. And as she says: she’s interested in the possibility of failure as a mandate for rigor. \nAdrienne Truscott has been making genre-straddling work in New York City and abroad for over 15 years. She is a choreographer\, comedian\, writer\, and one half of the boundary-busting cabaret act The Wau Wau Sisters. \nFor tickets and info: http://mounttremperarts.org/ \nMount Tremper Arts\n647 South Plank Rd\, Mt Tremper NY 12457\n845-688-9893
