Ham\, Railroad Author\, Historian and ERM Life Member will unveil his newest railroad book \nFour Tracks Through the Mohawk Valley\nAlong the Scenic Water Level Route\nBetween Albany and Buffalo \nOver the past two decades\, author John Ham has produced several books about the New York Central Railroad in New York State. Nine prominent railroad historians and authors assisted Mr. Ham with the compilation of this book. It focuses on the New York Central’s “Glory Years” using a multitude of fine steam and early diesel photos taken along the Water Level Route by some of the most noted rail photographers of the 20th Century. \nMR. SUMMARY:Exploring Ancient Phoenicia Part 3 - Protecting These Sacred Mountains
DESCRIPTION:In this third in a series of multimedia lectures Evan Pritchard will share some of his research regarding the high sacred places of Phoenicia and the surrounding Catskills\, especially regarding mountains located within Shandaken township. He will discuss Algonquin metaphysical beliefs surrounding mountains and the spiritual role they play\, as sacred sites and vision quest retreats. He will go into detail regarding what are called “cairns” (a Celtic term) or “Manitouassin” sacred stone piles (petroforms) and their mysterious alignments\, as well as the famous Montauk-Hammonassett Solstice Line which passes through the so-called “Devil’s Tombstone.” \nHe will again explore local lore and linguistics\, and the lore surrounding Panther Mountain and the seven sacred springs which are the source of seven rivers of great importance to the Esopus Munsee of our region including their portages. He will also revisit local trade routes to discuss not only where they lead but what items travelers might have been trading. As before he will integrate his latest research with earlier studies by noted scholars such as Alf Evers\, Michael Kudish and Glenn Kreisberg\, and files from The Shandaken and Time and the Valleys Museums\, offering a smorgasbord of surprises no one will want to miss. \nZoom link –

SUMMARY:AND - by Aynsley Vandenbroucke
DESCRIPTION:Aynsley Vandenbroucke\nAnd \nSaturday\, July 22 8:00 pm / Sunday\, July 23 3:00 pm / Tickets $20 \n“Aynsley Vandenbroucke has been exploring the relation of literary formalism to the human body in a way few writers\, if any\, are doing.” —Hyperallergic \nIn And\, Aynsley Vandenbroucke uses experimental literary devices to create a series of live\, three-dimensional essays. She plays with lines between fact and fiction\, narrative and abstraction\, legibility and complexity. She works with—and against—the role of formal structures in writing\, moving\, and making a life. \nSome words that tussle for prominence in the piece are: art\, life\, teaching\, body\, marriage\, knowing\, divorce\, friendship\, contradiction\, form\, home\, house\, community\, uncertainty\, gentleness\, question\, power\, sex\, dance. \nCalled “gifted” by the New Yorker and “an elegant sensitive thinker” by the New York Times\, Aynsley Vandenbroucke has been making performance in NYC since 2000. She co-founded Mount Tremper Arts and served as co-curator there until 2014. Vandenbroucke teaches at Princeton University and is obsessed with the relationships between reading\, writing\, learning to live\, and making dance. \nPurchase tickets online here\, or call 845-688-9893.

SUMMARY:THIS by Adrienne Truscott
DESCRIPTION:THIS by Adrienne Truscott\nDirected by Ellie Heyman \nA Watershed Lab project in partnership with New York Live Arts \nSaturday\, March 25 8:00pm / Tickets $15 \nTHIS is a solo performance which may not always be a solo. \nTHIS is a small or large or medium act of artistic survivalism and an ever-evolving work that writes\, in real time\, the libretto of the performance the artist is attempting to do which changes with each performance to reflect the new context brought by the performance at hand. \nAfter taking on rape culture in her controversial\, award-winning stand-up performance Asking for It\, Adrienne Truscott comes to Mount Tremper Arts to wrestle with questions that have formed the undercurrent of her performance work forever. In a new solo\, she asks what it is we are all doing in this place\, at this moment in time. And as she says: she’s interested in the possibility of failure as a mandate for rigor. \nAdrienne Truscott has been making genre-straddling work in New York City and abroad for over 15 years. She is a choreographer\, comedian\, writer\, and one half of the boundary-busting cabaret act The Wau Wau Sisters. \nFor tickets and info: http://mounttremperarts.org/ \nMount Tremper Arts\n647 South Plank Rd\, Mt Tremper NY 12457\n845-688-9893
