SUMMARY:Ernest Troost in Concert
DESCRIPTION:Trained in classical music and jazz guitar at the Berklee College of Music\, Ernest Troost came to be a folk artist by way of an unusual path\, one that took him through the heart of America’s leading film and television studios. Ernest is a five time Emmy nominee and the winner of that award for Outstanding Music Composition for his work for the miniseries The Canterville Ghost. \nIn 2004 Ernest Troost released his first album as a singer songwriter\, All The Boats Are Gonna Rise\, and in 2009 he won the prestigious Kerrville New Folk competition. Based out of Los Angeles due to his alternate Hollywood career\, East Coast performances by Ernest Troost are a relative rarity\, and opportunities to see him live should therefor not be missed. \n“He’s one of those rare songwriters who can gently seduce the listener into the pleasantries of his melodies while his subject matter subtly engages and disturbs with stories that tread closely to the dark-edge of the American dream revealing the nightmares of our hidden history. All of this is wrapped in the skill and craft of acoustic instrumentation with the seemingly magic intricacies of finger-flat-picking that sing of the long lonesome ragtime blues” No Depression \n“Troost’s style and subject matter recall Dylan\, Dave Alvin\, and (especially for his concentration on life’s darker side) Richard Thompson” Blues Revue Magazine \n“Ernest Troost is a brilliant Americana songwriter.” New York Music Daily \n“Brilliant Songwriting\, amazing guitar work” Folkworks Magazine \nThe Empire State Railway Museum is located at 70 Lower High Street in Phoenicia\, New York. Tickets are $15 at the door or $13 with an advance RSVP. Show time is 7:30 p.m. and the doors open at 7:00 p.m. This is an intimate venue with seating for approximately 50 guests. \nSeats can be reserved by emailing us at flyingcatmusic@gmail.com or by calling Flying Cat Music at 845-688-9453.
