The hugely energetic and innovative N.Y.C. Teatro Grattacielo opera company, will bring its special combination of great young singers, provocative staging and projections to open this seasons Phoenicia Festival of the Voice on August 5, 2022. They will open with Mozart’s arguably greatest opera, ‘Don Giovanni’, updated as a celebration of Spanish sic-kitsch set in 90s replete with air couches, Channel clothes, lots of jewels, and a bright white stage made of tiles with bulls. The world’s greatest lover dressed and undressed in Armani—Mozart, high-fashion and infidelity- what a night it will be!

New York City Opera will return to Phoenicia N.Y. this summer, after their beautiful and successful production of ‘Rigoletto’ this past season. New York City Opera company, which created so many stars in the past will stay with Verdi and bring their own, classical touch to “La Traviata”- a beautiful, Parisian courtesan finally finds true love only to have her life cut short by a fatal disease. New York City Opera has given us some of the great Violettas of our times such as Beverly Sills, Diana Soviero and Ashley Putnam- and we are sure they will deliver yet another budding star in the role to capture our hearts and minds. NY City opera brings Verdi’s “La Traviata’ to the Phoenicia Int. Festival of the Voice.

Alongside these Big Apple giants, the Phoenicia Festival of the Voice will present an amazing and innovative concert featuring ‘Opera in the Movies’ with full chorus and orchestra, vignettes of the films which were enhanced by opera’s incredible drama and the world class soloists you’ve heard every year now for over a decade in collaboration with The Woodstock Film Festival. ‘The Shawshank Redemption’, ‘Philadelphia’, ‘Moonstruck’ and ‘Fatal Attraction’ are just a few of the opera/movie combos to which you will be treated.
