“Thoreau and the Examined Life”

Matagiri and the Emerson Resort & Spa invite you to join us in the Emerson Resort & Spa’s Great Room for a lecture given by Professor Richard Geldard entitled “Thoreau and the Examined Life.”

2017 is the bicentennial of Henry David Thoreau’s birth, with honorary and celebratory events taking place around the world. Thoreau led a deeply examined life, and his writings later influenced the likes of Gandhi and Martin Luther King. Professor Richard Geldard, whose books on Ralph Waldo Emerson and the Concord Circle examine the lasting influence of wisdom teaching, will explain why living consciously and fully remains vital and sorely needed today.

Professor Richard Geldard teaches philosophy at the University of Philosophical Research and the Holmes Institute of Consciousness Studies. He is the author of books on Heraclitus, the sacred places of ancient Greece, and the spiritual teachings of Ralph Waldo Emerson. His many books can be viewed on Amazon and at www.rgbooks.com. After the talk, Dr. Geldard will sign copies of his book “An Examined Life” available for purchase.

The Emerson Resort & Spa is located at 5340 Route 28, Mount Tremper, NY. Tea will be served. Admission is free, however, a voluntary donation is suggested.
